2022 B-17 FLY-IN at McNary Field, Salem

22 Aug 2022.
American Legion Riders from Posts 58, 83, 1 & 10, plus Combat Veterans & Patriot Guard Riders (if I missed anyone, please let me know) were present for a Flag Line Presentation ceremony for two WWll Bombers today. The location was in Salem at McNary Airfield in front of the B-17 Alliance Restoration hangar. Several dignitaries were present to say a few words. The Ceremony began after the landing of both aircraft. Each Branch of Service was called to the front including all veterans from their respective branches asked to line up near their Flag.
Terry Scott, B-17’s Director is also a professional entertainer. It was by her request to sing the National Anthem directly to the veterans in the branch line up. In all the time I have been a volunteer at the hangar, I have never personally seen her do that. It was beautiful.
Today was a quiet celebration of all veterans, past, present and future. Everyone who participated in this event were appreciated beyond measure, and were extremely professional.
Starting tomorrow, 23 Aug 22, is the official opening of the Flying Legends Tour. I hope many or you plan to return with your family during the following 6 days for a great time.
THANK YOU ALL FOR COMING.

2022 OREGON INTERNATIONAL AIRSHOW

Many Riders helped other volunteers setup the airshow and there were hundreds of volunteers participating in the event. The Riders from Post 21 McMinnville and Post 51 Stayton, met at Post 21 to prepare for the opening ceremonies each day on Friday, Saturday, & Sunday. The Ladies for Liberty sang the National Anthem while the Riders stood the flag line. As the Riders began to return to base F-15 Eagles would fly over as they rode down the taxiway. There were many demonstrations of our military might and stunt planes for a very eventful weekend.
